Kathleen D'uva WAS BORN IN COUNTY MAYO in 1901. She immigrated to the United States of America in the 1920's.
As an immigrant, she had to work hard to get ahead. In the 1950's her and her husband John, opened a bar in Bronx, NY, called Eltona tavern.
After her husband died, she decided to sell the bar and move to Tucson, AZ. She was one of those people everyone knows- Tough, hard working and opinionated.
She was very social AND SOON EARNED THE NICKNAME KATIE. She could often be found DRINKING SCOTCH & DANCING THE IRISH JIG AT HER Gaelic, German, Austrian and polish clubs. She was proud to be irish and let everyone know it. HER FIRST QUESTION TO ANYONE SHE MET WAS, "WHAT NATIONALITY ARE YOU?" IF THEY RESPONDED WITH ANYTHING OTHER THAN IRISH, HER RESPONSE WAS, "WELL THAT'S OK TOO".
In THE Spring of 2017, Kathy and I had decided to downsize OUR home and MOVE TO a new community called Desert Willow Ranch. WHEN CONSIDERING a floor plan , WE CHOSE a model that showcased a large game room. In trying to decide how to use that space in OUR new home, Kathy and I thought it would be a great idea to model IT after an authentic Irish Pub, Being that HER GRANDMOTHER had already owned a bar. WE decided to name it .
KATIE'S IRISH PUB
"WHERE IRISH EYES ARE SMILING"
OUR PURPOSE IN CREATING KATIE'S REMAINS THE SAME TODAY AS IT WAS BACK THEN.. TO HAVE A PLACE WHERE FAMILY & FRIENDS COULD COME TOGETHER TO ENJOY A PINT.
